Get to Know Coach Alma
Playing experience: Started playing in Tijuana and was in the Baja California team for 5 years. Played 1 year at Southwestern College before being offered a scholarship to play at a private university in Missouri. I accepted it and did an early transfer to Central Methodist University to play my remaining 3 years of college eligibility. I was awarded defender of the week several times, led my team in aces in my senior year and had honorable mention all-conference, my position was libero.
Bachelor’s in Sociology with a minor in Psychology.
Coaching experience: First year at Point Break. 3 years total; I am head coach of both boys and girls varsity programs at CVLCC High school
Philosophy: I’m a firm believer that discipline is the key to this sport, I encourage each and every player I have to stay consistent and show up everyday with a positive attitude, lead with character, and support your teammates while being competitive. I don’t expect perfection; I expect effort, eagerness and improvement every day. My practices will help you develop skills based on correct techniques. And my specialties are primarily overall defense, serve receive and serving.
